I don’t believe you can break a lease due to pests. Inform the manager in writing and keep a copy. Roaches are typical in so Cal. See if the landlord with actually get professionals to take care of the problem, not just a bomb or a couple of roach motels! When I live in CA, I wouldn’t even get my groceries in paper bags. A comon place for eggs to be deposited and brought back to your place. Buy some borax powder and sprinkle on the permiter of your place including the door way. This will help future bugs, even ants from walking across your door way! Good luck!

I second the suggestion for borax powder, it is cheap, and not a problem for humans or animals other than certain kinds of bugs.

You should put a bit of borax powder along the edges of every room, and especially under all sinks and the backs of all drawers and at the bottom and top and back edges of all of the cabinets, behind the stove (if it is freestanding) and behind and under the edges of the fridge. When I needed to do this I got the a little plastic bottle meant for puffing out chalk, and instead loaded it with borax. It made it very easy to systematically put the borax powder around all edges. Any excess easily vacuums up.

Also, no paper bags, ever.

Roaches are disgusting, and I don’t blame you one bit for wanting to get rid of them.
