AHH IM SO EXCITED. at least this balanced out my Caltech rejection and MIT waitlist haha!

Reject Cornell so I can go there. Especially if you’re already in MIT.

About how many of the accepted applicants get likely letters?

Got one on Saturday - another female engineer. However, going to Notre Dame instead

I got one today too - female engineer as well :)

D got one on saturday too. Female engineer.

Got one today for SWE! Does anyone know any info about the SWE weekend?

Just got a likely letter from COE, I’m a white male. Also am a finalist for the John McMullen Dean’s award.

And to the poster going to ND over Cornell, how come? Just curious, i got into ND EA, so I’m considering both schools as well.

D also got her likely letter today. Female engineer

i got a likely today (applied as a girl in engineering) :)

I’m a female who applied to engineering and I got a likely on Saturday (including all the information for the SWE weekend). Super exciting, and congrats to everyone else who got one!

Wow, look at all these engineering girls… maybe we male engineers aren’t doomed after all :)

Yes, and I - yet another female - got a likely letter for engineering. You guys aren’t doomed:)

Well, we’re doomed in terms of likely letters (hey, I’m not that underqualified, haha) but yes, if I end up going to Cornell, you all know why ;)

Okay, I know that it does not necessarily mean you’re rejected if you do not get a likely letter and you are a minority, but does that apply for the female engineers who are not minorities and do not receive a likely letter regarding the SWE?

Yes. You’re still fine. Just a couple more weeks of anticipation :)

i got a likely letter too as a female engineer, but im kind of confused because it seems like SO many people got them. did they send them to all accepted female engineers??

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did send them to all accepted female engineers. Because female engineers are technically a minority they’re probably hoping to boost the number of accepted girls who decide to go there by making them feel all special with a likely letter.

…Not that I don’t like feeling special. =D

You do know how many female engineers there are at Cornell, correct?

30% of the CoE is female, about 1000 students.

This is definitely not to every single female engineering applicant.

Good to hear about the 30% ratio. One of the other schools to which a friend of ours was accepted has only 17% women in the engineering school.
