Can someone tell me what the floor (if one exists) is for Academic Index and sports recruiting? Does it work on a sliding scale---with the most desirable athletes having the lowest floor, etc?

167, but it really depends on the sport.
The floor is almost never met due to an abundance of athletes with stellar grades.

OK-well if a coach is advising you that you need to be well north of that number (210 plus), should you assume you are not very high on their list?

You may be able to get in with a lower AI if you are a star athlete in a major sport. But, a high AI is not uncommon for the non-revenue sports. An even higher AI may be required for the womens sports. Or the coach may be telling you that you have the best chance with an AI of 210+, or that he has never had a 210+ recruited athlete rejected, ... depends how he/she worded it. Send me a private message (click on my name and then click on send message). I'll try to help you decipher everything. I have one D who's an Ivy freshman athlete now and a second D (hs senior) in the process, so I know how stressful and crazy it is.
