Could anyone tell me where the majority of accepted transfer students are from? CC? Top 30 Universities?

Come on. anyone?

On the cornell transfer forum the majority of applicants were denied to cas. However, the other colleges had better acceptance rates. I came from a cc.

Thank you lavender. What about gauranteed transfers? Do they account for a large portion in cas and the other colleges? Anyone please?

very few gtd transfers in CAS

Thank you memphismom. That is a good news haha!

Anyone else would like to add sth to this post please?

Anyone? Any current student?

I honestly don’t think I’ve met anyone that’s a transfer in CAS. I’m pretty sure 95% of the transfers are into ILR, Human Ecology, and CALS, where the transfer acceptance rate is pretty high (+ guaranteed transfers).

I’ve also never met a CAS transfer-- The majority go into ILR, HumEc and CALS, with most of the GTs in ILR (I swear, like 2/3 of them are transfers) CALS (lots of AEM) and quite a few Hotelies. If you are really set on transferring to in to CAS, it might be easier to do an internal transfer (though that might make your course load tougher since CAS has pretty rigorous requirements)

Can anyone else please add something to the thread? Transfer to econ or math (CAS) or AEM (CALS)? Is AEM easier to transfer into than CAS?

AEM is probably easier to transfer into since it’s in CALS, but AEM itself is a selective major anyway.

I’m really grateful this forum exists - it’s awesome to know the facts.

There were quite a few CAS transfers who matriculated in with my transfer class (2008). Many seemed to be in econ and government.

If you are a non-GT, it is difficult to get into the selective CALS majors (AEM, Bio, BEE). Think like 12-15% difficult. In CALS, you apply specifically to a major, whereas CAS screens all applicants as a college (unless you’re a junior transfer, in which case department approval is necessary).

CAS has a 7% admit rate for transfers.
