<p>I wonder if there are air-conditioners in the student dorms. The pre-college booklet told us to bring a fan for extra cooling.</p>

<p>If you have a medical reason for needing an air conditioner and some sort of doctor's note, you can get an air conditioner in other dorms. Contact CMU if that's the case.</p>
<p>university owned apartments generally have aircon - as well as many of the lounges and such</p>

<p>why can't they be installed? good question, though it is really only hot in september/early oct and end march/maybe april/may ( when suddenly lots of my dorm pals wanted to hang in my apartment :/ )</p>
<p>with a fan it's alright, i had a maybe 10 inch directional fan</p>
<p>Generally you only want/need A/C for the first two weeks of school. After that, never.</p>
