Do any of the freshman dorms have air conditioning?

No. I believe only the Riverside appts have AC (on the River campus–don’t know about Southside, etc)

Rochester doesn’t have a ton of really hot days though, so you only have to deal with the heat for a few weeks in the fall semester.

Agreed - not having AC wasn’t an issue for my son at all.

My daughter lived in Southside during her sophomore year… no air conditioning. Apart from the first week or two, unless there is a prolonged Indian summer, a/c is not needed… a fan though is always a good idea.

In the winter, you will likely be overly warm.

Lergnom,
Are you saying the school keeps the thermostats for the heating set at a higher temp? What is the normal temperature in the dorms at Susan B? Does anyone know.

I don’t know the temp in Sue B, but that’s where my son lived last year, and they had to regulate their room temp by opening the window, so yes - they keep it really warm in the winter.

All schools overheat their dorms in the winter. They have large power plants that push out a lot of steam, with little ability to direct it specifically to this or that room. If you have a thermostat in any dorm anywhere, it will likely not do all that much. A thermostat calls for heat or says stop heating but it doesn’t turn off the steam that goes into the pipes for your room. In your house, it turns the furnace on or off. It won’t do that to a power plant.
