airport transportation

is there any transportation between the UIUC airport and UIUC campus? because i think i might fly there for the summer registration, but i have absolutely no idea about how to get to the campus from the airport. and are there any cheap hotels i can rent for a night that are close to the campus and have good transportations?
thanks

There is a bus (27 air bus) that runs every so often between campus and the airport.

In my experience, flights to CMI are very expensive. Chicago is probably a lot cheaper and you can take a bus down to Urbana from O’Hare or Midway (but it will take 3-4 hours). You can also try BMI, which also has a bus to UIUC I think (check the LEX express website).

what about hotels? do i have to live in Illini Union? are there transportations between other hotels and campus?

No idea, sorry. Check out hotels in the area, call them to ask if they are on any CUMTD bus routes (or just check their addresses vs the route map at http://www.cumtd.com/</a> ). There are certainly at least several hotels served by buses, but I don’t know exactly which ones and which routes.

If you’re an out of state student and thinking of flying all the way there just for orientation, talk to your advisor. When I started at UIUC in aviation, my advisor just told me I could skip registration since I live in CA. I told her what classes to sign me up for and she added them. There is also a registration week the week before school starts for internationals that you could try to get into, but you get last pick on classes, so talk to your advisor first.

do they have bus transportation on sunday?

Yes, but the schedules are different. The schedules are on the CUMTD website.

Taxis in town shoud be cheap too, if you really need it. Compared to the hotel & airfare at least…

anyone has their taxis info website?

bump 10 char

I can’t find any at the moment, but they’ll be able to point you in the right direction at the hotel.
