Son goes to orientation in a week. He just now is saying lots of people are taking ALEKS and does he need it? This is really the first I’m hearing about it. He took the AP Calc exam. Is this something he needs to take and does it have to be done before orientation? He will be in CNS.
Yes, everyone who is going into CNS including those who have credit from AP/IB/Transfer need to purchase the $50 online test and take it. Here is their website: https://cns.utexas.edu/ut-math-assessment
He will also take the UT math assessment at summer orientation. Hope this helps!
Thank you. Yes, that helps tremendously. Just wish I had known this information earlier?? Did we miss it somewhere on our status page?
@rach98n I agree. My son is in Cockrell and the information on the ALEX testing and the Spatial assessment were found in links contained in “welcome” emails - actually they were links that led to other links that had the actual information. I wish they were listed on the “What’s Next” section. I spoke to another mom over the weekend whose son is also in Engineering and didn’t know about the additional assessments either. He was monitoring “What’s Next” pretty carefully but focused on finals so not delving deeply into the other emails.
Son was up until late last night finishing the math and chemistry. Showed me that he had gotten an email at 1 am 6/1 saying “we’ve noticed you haven’t done this, you might want to get on it” (basically). Would have been nice to get a little more notice, but at least he managed to get it done.
