ALEKS math test for engineering students

It sounds like the ALEKS test is required for SOE students regardless of whether they have AP Calc credits. It says the minimum for Calc 1 is a 76. Does anyone know what the minimum ALEKS score is to go into Calc 2 or Calc 3 if you have AB and BC AP credits? Thank you!

Good question. I suspect that if you score at or above 76, Pitt will accept any AP credit that you have and that you want to apply. The ALEKS test only covers pre-Calculus material, so it can’t be expected to provide insight into what you’ve retained in any of the Calculus AP courses.

Thank you! That is very helpful.

They should give out the Pitt departmental finals for Calc 1 and Calc 2 and if you pass those with a grade WAY over the class average then you can test out of Calc 1 and 2! :))
