oh yeah, and PLEASE beat Texas for the Big Ten's sake. The Big Ten has been struggling lately in pretty much every sport, so they need a jumpstart to return back to the prominence of yesteryear.

This is the kind of thing I would get beaten up for in Ohio: GO Michigan!!

It is ok Iollloi. I realize that since you applied ED to Northwestern, it was your first choice. But Michigan is every bit as good as Northwestern, so all hope isn't lost. I actually picked Michigan over Northwestern.

Yeah I am optimistic person by nature. NU I guess wasn't really meant to be. I was in the shower earlier and I thought of that cliche phrase..."When one door shuts, another one opens..." So I didn't get into NU, theres still plenty of other schools.

I just wanted to get this whole process over with and dont have to wait until like March to find out. I really hope I get into Michigan.

Thank YOU for confiding in us and for keeping us posted. Congratulations. I had a feeling you were going to get in. At least, now you can relax and your brother can shut it! LOL

Alexandre - I'm actually lookin' forward to him coming home this weekend because I'm 99.9% sure he'll ask if I've heard from Michigan yet. This time, I'll have the pleasure of saying, "Yeah. They accepted me." I know it's bad of me to think this way, but I just can't help it after all of the weeks of torture that he's put me through. What's sad is that he's not even here 90% of the time anymore!

Alexandre, I just wanted to tell you that I got rejected from Stanford Early Action the day after I got into Michigan. I know you like Stanford, possibly even more than Michigan. Anyways, I probably wont be on this board for a while, until I start going crazy on where to actually attend... Off to the University of Pennsylvania board, but Thanks for all your help.

hi i am also posting on this one- mich recieved my stuff oct 19th and started reviewing it nov 2nd. i got a 1230 680 math/550 verbal. my mich gpa is 3.4 im pretty sure. 3 honors classes fresh-junior year and got b+'s in them. this year, senior year, im taking ap physics, ap spanish, english and physics honors. i have great ecs. wen do u think ill hear? and do u think ill get rejected. im from new jersey.

For GPA, Michigan only consider your grades in your sophomore and junior years, unweighed. They make allowance that some people may need a transition period in a new environment. They do look at all four years for strength of curriculum, and honor/AP courses do count.

PMAn, I like Stanford, but not better than Michigan. Michigan is my favorite university. I like Stanford because of its incredible academics and resources. If I could pick between Michigan and Stanford, I would probably pick Stanford, but I would do so knowing that my experience would not be as good. Same with Harvard. Harvard and Stanford are the only two schools I would pick over Michigan...but again, I must stress that I prefer Michigan and I would pick the other two despite knowing that my experience would not be as good. Michigan offers the best education all around.

In the admit package, it gives several dates on which I can attend Campus Day for LAS. I was wondering whether it would be better if I attend one of those earlier in January or later in the spring. Also, what were they like when you attended one?

I never attended one. I was coming from Abu Dhabi in the UAE, so flying 10,000 miles for a visit did not make sense! LOL But I agree with Nirvana...Spring is best.

No, I am not from the UAE, but I am Arab. I am originally Lebanese and I was born in Beirut, Lebanon. I have lived in the Arabian/Persian Gulf since 1975 (since I was two) and in the UAE in particular since 1978. And I lived in the States from 1987-1988 (boarding school in DC), 1992-1996 (Michigan years) and 1999-2004 (graduate school and work).

I have a kind of interesting and pressing question right now. Right now, it's basically between Michigan and Northwestern as to where I'll be next year, and I really don't have any interest in going to Michigan State anymore. I'm planning on withdrawing my acceptance from State so that somebody else can still have a chance to get it. However, I've been told that I should send in the $200 deposit so that my place can be reserved and final at Michigan so that I am 100% positive that I have a place to go next year when I withdraw from State. However, there's still a chance that I might not be at Michigan next year (pending on whatever Northwestern says in March). Would Michigan absolutely begin hating me if I end up pulling out in March? I know that the $200 isn't refundable after it's submitted, but that's not really an issue as long as I have somewhere to be next year. Also, would Northwestern hate me if I take this route (I'm posting this in both boards so...)? I really want to be on good terms with both of them since i love both of them (no matter what happens).

Also, how do you say to a school that you won't be joining them the next year? I feel horrible (It'll be even worse if I end up having to say no to Michigan or Northwestern).

Oh yeah, I'm really sad about Michigan's loss in the Rose Bowl.
