Anyone know when the invitations for this will come out? Last year, it was right around this time.

I believe the website says they will be mailed Feb. 1

Last year, people reported having received it by Jan. 28 (a Monday) so if it’s by mail, they probably would have mailed it out the Friday before. That would be tomorrow!

We are anxiously waiting. Good luck!

Same to you!

Son received an invitation yesterday!

^^^Would you mind sharing stats and which state you are from? Thanks

Was it an email or did you receive it by mail?

Hi jrmama496, he received an email. He’s an international student and feels very thrilled to be chosen to participate!
His stats (2220 SAT; 730 CR, 740 Math, 750 Reading). Mostly an A student, the school doesn’t have a GPA system, and does a lot of writing and has done editing work for not for profit organizations.
All the best to you all, hope to meet some of you during the weekend.

Sorry, I meant 750 for writing, not reading!

Is there anyone attending the Alfond scholarship weekend from out of state or country? I believe that if there are parents accompanying the student they will stay separately, right? Parents, if you plan to accompany your son/ daughter, please do share where you intend to stay during the weekend. I’m looking up possible accommodation options near Rollins college and would really appreciate some suggestions.

My son got his invitation last week. Followed by email after he RSVP’d. We’re from the east coast of Fl.

When I visit my D at Rollins I usually stay at the Courtyard by Marriott on Magnolia. Fairly close and sometimes rates are very good. Ask for the Rollins rate but AAA sometimes is better. Of course the Alfond Inn is beautiful but pricey. The upside is that what you pay goes for scholarships to the college and it is walkable to campus.

@SweetTea, that’s really helpful. Thanks!
@oldbull2: great that your son got his invite! I wonder how many students get invited? I look forward to meeting you all soon

SweetTea, good point about being close to campus. After dropping the kids off someone from out of town could spend the day roaming Winter Park.

I’m guessing if we haven’t received invite yet we probably aren’t going to…a little disappointed.

congrats to those invited. could someone else who has been invited share stats?

I called Rollins on Friday afternoon and was told that the invitations had been put in the mail that day. So I was still hoping there was a chance of receiving it this week. @oldbull2, when did you receive the invitation? I wonder why they would have told me they went out on Friday.

Just from memory for my son: ACT 31, 4.35? weighted GPA, top 5% of his class, AP scholar(10-12 AP classes?)Some unique EC’s I think

JRMAMA, might have arrived Sat. Can’t recall exactly. If they did go out Fri then we could easily have gotten it on Sat.
