Which one do you like better? Which one was easier for you?

I like algebra better and despise geometry. Geometry is a bit easier, but algebra is more fun.

I liked Algebra II. High school geometry is really uninspiring for some reason.

HS geometry is pretty much a joke. Olympiad geo is much more interesting:

I slightly preferred HS algebra because of that.

In regards to which is more useful, definitely Algebra. I was better at Geometry though. I haven’t taken either for years. Was done with Algebra II after freshman year.

I liked Algebra and Geometry was my least favorite class i’ve ever taken, so i did better in algebra

Geometry was my favorite class. I took Alg 2 in both Middle and High school so I have a particular distaste for it. However, I do love TRIG.

Geometry (read: geometric proofs) is the language of mathematics—and a poetic language, at that.

Sadly, it’s usually taught as if you were learning to write sonnets, but it had to be the same sonnet over and over again, maybe switching around the lines of the final couplet once in a while for variety.

I absolutely LOVED Algebra last year, but I am really having trouble in Geometry… I still have an “A” but a really low one… I can’t wait for Algebra 2 next year! Algebra was definitely easier, only because I actually liked it!

I love geometry, but I do not hate algebra because I love geometry. They kinda go together… I like solving algebraic geometry problems … I love both a lot but I would. Have to say geometry because you can do algebra In geometry.

@Calchong have you taken an algebraic geometry course? That’s usually a graduate level course at many universities.

Algebra II and Geometry. I haven’t taken any math class so far that I didn’t like.

Algebra II was far by my favorite (but then I took Geometry in middle school with a horrible teacher, which means I remember, like, 10% of what we learned). I’m even thinking of TA’ing for my Alg II teacher from last year if I end up having space in my schedule (AKA I don’t get into Journalism).

Although I got a B+ in Alg II first semester, the material itself was easier (I recall getting the highest grade out of any of my teacher’s classes on a very difficult test second semester); I just make a lot of dumb mistakes, which tends to translate into bad grades.

Algebra all the way. So fun

My vote is for Geometry. But there’s no bad choice here. This does remind me of two things. First, for all the math nerds who have opened this thread, I will share my favorite corny joke.

Q: What did the little acorn say when he grew up?

A: Gee, I’m a tree!

And the title of this thread has put They Might Be Giants tunes in my head…“triangle man, triangle man…triangle man hates particle man…they had a fight, triangle wins…” :)
