Aliens, sort of.

Hey, hello, greetings. I have a couple of questions.

If I was born in Ukraine and am not yet a citizen, would I count as an international student? Is it benefitical to count as one?

A side note would be that grades kill my soul. Seriously, though. Stabbing profusely, they are.

Last but not least, I am graduating early. How is that going to effect everything? I am pretty sure that's going to eat up all of my chances and spit back a pretty bad answer from a university like Princeton, but my choices are limited.

Have a nifty day.

sorry, but ur chances dont seem too good.

princeton discourages graduating early, explaining that it should only be done if "the applicant has exhausted the secondary school's opportunities..."

if grades are so bad that they stab you daily, the above clearly doesnt apply to you.

Well, technically, an A could stab me with the extremely high point on the top. I have pretty good reasons for graduating early which don't belong on the net. Perhaps, Princeton could look at them.

But you didn't particularly answer the questions, =).
(And for the record, I am ranked first out of 500. Four fluent languages. AP classes, President of MUN and FBLA, awards in singing, community service, ect, ect, ect.)

But grades and studying still stab me pretty bad.

oh, then your chances seem pretty good. did you really take the hardest courses offered at your school? it seems to me that thats the way the "exhausting" the opportunities would be interpreted.

1st out of 500 is very impressive.

test scores?

wait hold up!!!!! what exactly does graduating early mean????

I thought it meant graduating a year or more before your enrollment in princeton....(e.g - taking a gap year AFTER high school). Please someone reply before I faint!!!!

It means doing HS in 3 years instead of four. don't wet yourself. ;)

i love it when prospects tell other prospects their chances...

I'm graduating early as well. Would taking all my school's highest math courses, and chemistry courses count as exhausting all the school's resources? (I'm planning to major in chemical engineering)

I think it's kind of useless as well. I think everyone who wants to apply and is in the 'range' (ie. isnt a completely useless applicant) should apply. Let Princeton make the decision, not an armchair adcom in an internet forum.

Exhausting your resources should feel like you really have no other option than to go to college to take the next course, or perhaps you do not feel challenged enough, if you wish to go in that direction.

In my case, I am taking AP Calculus BC now, in my junior year, after taking AP Stat and AP Calc AB. My hope was to take something like Fundemental Bridges to Algebra next year, but the department did not let me. Man, it would have been a blast. In science, I am in AP Physics, which is the end of the chain as well.

Though, to graduate early and not have it be a standout of weakness, you should probably take History and English over the summer and be on the same level as the grade ahead of you. It works out well =)

But, if I was given a big choice, I'd rather stay in high school for 4 years instead of 3. No question.
