Uh, thought I'd just ask. Does Princeton accept over-aged undergrads [International applicant] of sorts, u know? 20++??? How about the other Ivy Leagues... Cos I think it's gonna be a long time before I'm ready for America. Of sorts. :( So??? Appreciate your help!

I don't think it matters as long as you explain well what you have been doing. Most high school graduates enter colleges at 17. Im 19 already and still applying for class of 2012.
I also know ppl at princeton who attended after serving their duties in army.

Serving army? Are you actually Singaporean? Lol... Erm, meaning if you apply for the class of 2012, that's the year you enroll? :]

Yes. I know one guy in my class who enrolled after completing his mandatory IDF service in Israel; he was 21 when he got on campus. Then we have a 27 year old freshman, etc.

It'll be a little weird if you don't have a good explanation of why you're enrolling late, but in and of itself it is not a barrier to admission that I know.

Joey Cheek

Mainly, for the first time ever, I really want to take my chances at something that I really want now. So thing is I've been spending all my schooling years doing-don't-know-what, definitely performing far below my potential. But everyone can claim that they have potential and passion, you'll need actual delivery to show for it.

Hence my plan is to start planning how I'll be studying in an American university by the age of 24, and so it's either with the schools that are need-blind for Intls or I'll have to pay myself.

A much easier way out would be to study in a local Singaporean U first, actually. And then do a Masters overseas. Still, what are the odds? And after weighing my options, I decided to rule this out. It's just - America, ASAP.

That's why I'll need so long..... Work something out, earn money, test myself, blah blah. I did a fair amount of volunteering back at school. But I'd say it was just minimal, in comparison to all the people I see posting around. So it's my intentions to take my passion further and manage my own project of sorts.

You guys think this is ok? Thanks for the reply!

Hope I made sense...

I know a girl who is 20 as a freshman; it's nothing big, especially for int'l students.

ill be 19 when i enter whichever college i get into, because im taking a year off to live in france and spain

It doesn't matter, just your stats and qualifications.
Let me guess - Singapore or Israel?

A friend of mine has a classmate (high school) who's 33 years old :D So I guess you'll be fine with going to college at an age of 20+ :)

Singapore PR here, and I don't have to serve army because it's an obligation of MY opposite sex lar, haha... But I really wanna take a fews years off to plan my way steadily, as I have never before in my life did much about what I want to do with my life.

Just wanted to make sure that after so many years of effort, I would not be disqualified even at the pre-requisites stage. Lol... Thanks for the help everyone! Good luck to all of us!!! HEHEHE.

I'm 23 (24 in a week) and I'll be attending as a Freshman in 2009 (I'll be 25 then). I got accepted at 23 and then took a deferral because I wanted to work for 2 more years.

So yea, it can happen.
