Alienware M11x

So I was originally going to wait for the Envy 14 to come out like a bunch of others here but then this thing just got an i5/i7 ULV refresh and it looks quite interesting now.

For $1087 (student discount and a -$100 dellU coupon floating around online) you get
i7 640UM, up to 2.26GHz
GeForce GT 335M
4GB DDR3
500GB 7200rpm HD
Bluetooth (my college requires this for some reason)

Supposedly the thing has 7-8 hours battery life with the 335M turned off. And it's the size of a netbook (11.6") so it should be quite portable.

I'm still kind of skeptical about getting something this small to use as my primary computer... I'll definitely get a larger 20" or something monitor in my room but I'm not sure how well the small keyboard and screen size will work out elsewhere as I've never used a netbook or anything like one before... any thoughts on this? or maybe I'm just way too bored waiting for the Envy 14...

I personally think it’s way too small, and would settle for nothing smaller than 13". However, obviously others have used and loved netbooks, so the only advice I could offer is try it out before you buy.

Wait for the Envy 14. You’ll at least regret the scrunched keyboard, if not the small screen size.

I’ve seen the it too. Looks so COOL!!! But, after thinking, it’s just a fun toy. Not a practical investment as a primary computer for like 4 yrs use.

IMO: its good as a secondary computer, not a primary.

Yea it does seem more like a gimmick than something you’d want to use all day… I wish there was a 13" version with similar specs in the same price range -.- but on the only 13" with similar specs Sony decides to put two SSDs in RAID 0 and jack up the price by $1k…
