All Nighter's

How the hell do you pay attention or atleast pretend to look attentive after an all nighter? I will try... heres my formula

Procrastination+Finshed Homework=all nighter
all nighter=sleep in first period

Therefore
Procrastination+ Finished Homework= Sleep in first Period.
Whos saids you can't apply math in life? :)

For some reason, I can't fall asleep in class no matter how much sleep I get.

I guess that's a good thing :D. I never had to pull off any all nighters for school but I'm sure that'll change this year.

What grade are you in?

I pulled an all-nighter last night. Not because I wanted to- I just couldn't fall asleep for the life of me...

Somehow I managed not to completely loose it during the day. It was slightly harder to focus, but I did perfectly fine on my math test and every other subject afterwards...

I'm a junior now.

Wow, i could fall alseep anytime afterschool. Exausted from all academic classes.

i am unable to fall asleep in class. otherwise i wouldnt be conscious for any religion class

Wow, I feel like I'm the only one awake by choice.

And geez, school hasn't even started.

I can't sleep in class unless we aren't learning a lesson. It's rude.

^
Best advice ever.

I do ECs after school. :O As a Junior, the latest I ever stayed up 'til was 2am. Even if I wasn't able to get the homework done, I feel like I HAVE to get my sleep. I learn most from class discussions and lectures, so I have to be awake and conscious for those. :|

I've never had to pull an all-nighter (soph now), and hopefully never will. Listen in class, do the HW in the afternoon/evening. That's my formula, and I have tons of free time. And this is in the all-choking Indian education system!

Basically, just learn to manage your time well. Be organized. My friends ask me how I manage to excel in school and participate in a lot of EC's. My answer? I know how to manage my time. Simple as that.

Personally, I'd rather get my sleep and be healthy than pull an all-nighter in order to finish homework. I won't stay up past 12:30 because if I get less than 6 hours of sleep, I can't concentrate in class. I can't sleep in class, either, because I have to sit in the front row. ):

However... my sleep pattern is crazy right now, and I need to fix that... by pulling an all-nighter! Does anybody have tips for staying awake?

"For some reason, I can't fall asleep in class no matter how much sleep I get."
"i am unable to fall asleep in class."
"I can't sleep in class unless we aren't learning a lesson. It's rude."

Are you kidding me? What do you do during class? The day would go by so slowly if i couldn't sleep. That's actually kind of impressive. I could never stay awake for an entire day of school.

The most difficult part of completing homework, I feel, is convincing myself to begin. I am the Queen of Procrastination, heir to the throne of Slackerville. Hopefully, I will be able to relinquish my title this upcoming (sophomore) year.

Pulling an all-nighter is better with friends. I had some good (but sleepy) times last year when almost everyone from my World Civilizations II Honors class was up all night instant messaging each other (there was a horrible teacher) and completing a project.

Anyway, my point is, don't suffer alone. Chances are, there are other people in your classes who procrastinate and stay up all night.

The past 2 years ive had chronic sleep problems where I slept through around 70% of every class, and only made it out with a 94 gpa w/ hardest courseload....hopefully this year I can stay awake and pay attention ^^

i think it was mostly cause every night I only got 5 hours of sleep because I found it INCREDIBLY hard to fall asleep

i need 9.5 hours of sleep to be fully awake. that's kind of hard considering i wake up at 6:00, get home at 5:30, and have tons of chores and responsibilities, LOTS of homework, etc. but whatever, i manage.

i can't ever fall asleep in class though. my classes have 10-20 people, so the teacher knows each and every person and everybody is clearly visible. falling asleep in class is the kind of thing that is incredibly stupid to do. one time i was really really sick (i refuse to miss school), and it was right after lunch and i was feeling miserable and tired, and started to drift off, but my friends woke me before i got in trouble. whew.

this upcoming year (school starts the 11th) the schedule is changed a lot so there is almost no free time in school to get hw done, so i'll just be extra efficient when i get home and won't waste time eating snacks or godforbide, going on cc. (wonder how long i'll be able to keep that up).

and i plan to be in bed by 9. hahaha. oh boy. i'll probably be able to do that maybe once throughout the whole year.

i'm starting to miss summer already...

Even though I think time management is great, I'm too lazy to do it. :]
I took two hardcore science courses at summer@Brown, and that was when I began to pull all-nighters. . .I had a lot of catching up to do considering I haven't even been in an honors science class since 9th grade. . .anyway, the moral of my nocturnal tale is. . .don't pull all-nighters!!! They are bad for your sanity, your brain, AND your skin. Sleep is very important. Trust me, I know! :]

Latest I ever stayed up to was 3:00, and that wasn't even for school... it was editing for newspaper. I still get droopy-eyed in humanities classes though, especially after lunch. I had an APUSH teacher who had the best droning voice; it just lulls your right to sleep, and stupidly, I chose to sit in the front row, right smack dab in the middle where he has a full view of me nodding off. At least he didn't hold it against me, because I'd slave away on his homework for more than two hours a night. All-nighters? Forget it. Those raccoon eyes are already prominent enough thank you very much.
