All-nighters

"You could also turn down the brightness on the monitor"

That's exactly what I was thinking...just lower the brightness

Exactly. Some people try too hard to look for complex, difficult, non-user friendly solutions like sunglasses, when simpler ones exist.

Never done it, but I don't exactly sleep a lot either...

I'm in the middle of an all-nighter right now...I'm flying to China tomorrow so I figured I'd just sleep on massive plane ride...although I'm usually up until about 4am every night anyways.

goldshadow, why are there such things as screen filters if turning down brightness could accomplish the same effect?

I can go long periods of time without sleeping.... I'm talking 40 hours or more. And then there are sometimes I can sleep for over 15 hours. This summer's been CraZy! I go to bed @ 5am and wake up @ 3pm. As long as I get in 6 cans of diet Pepsi a day I am good to go!

Yah, Cheertator! I'm exactly the same way! This summer has been crazy for me too. I've actually went to sleep around 5am, woke up at 7:45pm. I absolutely can't stand being awake during the afternoon. The sun... how it burns!! It's odd too, I've been sleeping 12 hours regularly all summer. I'm like sleeepsleeepsleeeeep. Can't get enough of it. I think this is the result of regularly sleeping 2-4hours a night for weeks on end during the school year. I've probably went without sleep for 30-40 hours, but I'm much more fond of going without sleep for long lengths of time with 1-2 hour naps in between.

MITES this summer has truly tested my sleep schedule... I pulled off about 40 hours last Saturday-Sunday. I had to do a website on flash, a calc pset, a biology project, and we had two essays due during the week. This was mainly because I wanted to go visit olin on Sunday, so I had to make up that hw time. It was absolutely crazy, I tried every single energy drink in the store, took random cold showers, and other techniques to keep me up. The night after I had about 3-4 hours of sleep also. To put it into perspective, two nights ago, I was one of the first ones to go to sleep, and it was 5 AM! My biological clock is completely busted with only 3-4 hours of sleep (if I'm lucky) every night.

3x24...uh, let's see that uh..72hrs.

36 hours, fairly often. The direct result of IB. :(

You're so brave

2 all nights in a row finals week = 54 hours awake and then 13 asleep. it was the most tortorous two days of my life. i stayed awake by consuming 2000+ mg of caffeine in the form of 200 mg pills and starbucks doubleshots and redbull mixed with mountain dew. i NEVER want to do it again. by the last few hours i just felt like a walking zombie

you know, if you guys had better time management you wouldnt have to pull these insane and unhealthy 48 hour awake stunts.

Once I stayed up for 29 hours, I was a ten-year old too busy playing Pok

6:00 in morning through 6 then get back home at 5 and then check Internet for say, 1 hour and then collapse in exhaustion. So that would be ~36 hours. It's a record tied many times as that's the pattern I follow when pulling all-nighters.

My record is about 32 hours during a trip to Europe. I woke up early, we drove to a major airport about six hours away, got on the plane some houws after that, and flew for eight hours with a one-hour stopover in between. After landing, we found the apartment we were staying in and walked around the city for almost the whole day. That night I slept for thirteen hours, which is a record as well. Never have I stayed up for more than an hour past my usual bedtime due to school. It isn't important enough to alter my sleep schedule :)

New record for me, 30 hours on a trip to Europe.

Woke up at 10, went to the airport three hours later (1 hour drive), flew out two hours later, was on the plane for seven hours (nonstop)...got to the airport...got to our hotel an hour later (8 am), and then walked/metro-ed around Paris until 11 o clock that night.

40 hours or something for me at RSI (last 2 days). The summberbook says less though since I had only done my FIRST all-nighter at RSI when I filled that out.

Word of advice about using caffeine pills to stay awake. After enough time you'll become addicted, and from personal experience, it's not all that pleasent to come off of!
