allergies and special housing request

well, i have allergies, but they're not particularly severe; i get on with life fine enough. i don't sneeze any more than my peers, but i do blow my nose a little more than them. i don't take any medication (although i used to), and i don't use like special bedding or anything even though i'm supposedly allergic to dust mites. i'm also supposedly allergic to grass and dogs, but i've been around both enough to say that i disagree. basically, i'm fine. i still kind of want to live in one of the newer dorms though. i mean, i do technically have allergies, and i'm sure my physician or whatever would fill out the form. is this okay to do? is it at least worth a try? the form asks for things such as how it substantially inhibits daily functions, which it doesn't for me, but at least i would have an edge to get newer housing over people without any allergies? that's fair, right.

would you guys say it's worth a try? i'm not even sure how to go about doing it. like, where and when would i turn the form in?

well, i've pretty much finished applying for housing and dining online. i tried applying for classes and it says that it's not possible to do so right now. am i missing anything? anything else i need to do?

thanks

I think it’s reasonable to ask for a newer dorm based on your allergies. It’s not like there’s only 5 spaces – the new dorms on North house a lot of kids.

oh, okay thanks. i think i’ll talk to my mom about it soon.

any other opinions on this?

why would you have fewer allergies in a new dorm? all of the dorms are kept relatively clean, and none of the new dorms are so new that they won’t have collected dust. I guess if you want to make the case that’s fine…but I doubt it will actually make much of a difference for you.
