ALO contact?

My son attended summer seminar this year and is waiting patiently for the application process to open up. He emailed his ALO, but received no response and the ALO listed has not contacted him. Should he be worried? He was hoping to contact him before he leaves for China, since he’ll be gone the rest of the summer. He’ll contact me on a weekly basis to see if he has to do anything online…beginning July 1st!!! (he’ll be in rural areas trekking and living on farms, so not available at a moment’s notice)

NO, he should NOT be worried. “Technically” he doesn’t have an ALO until he’s officially a candidate.

From your post, I gather you have the name/phone/e-mail of the ALO? If so, I’d keep after him. ALO’s have other jobs and are quite often VERY busy. We can get a bit behind from time to time and this is summer; VERY early in our process, so it’s nothing to be concerned about.

But if I can help, let me know: flieger83@cox.net

Thank you! We hought it was a bit early in the process, but since the application page has the ALO’s name, email, and phone and: ***Contact your Local Liaison Officer about the status of your interview/evaluation… he tought he’d give it a try. Weren’t quite sure who contacts who. Now he can head off to China with no worries.

I’m assuming that it’s best to wait for son to return fom China in Aug to contact ALO, rather than have me do it???

Yes. I will say this, personally…I MUCH prefer to hear from the applicant rather than from their parents.

It’s the applicant that’s trying to enter the academy…and they need to show me how serious they are about it.

That’s what I figured. Son was just worried that since he was gone this summer, he would miss his chance to call him. But, in August, he can call/email and hopefully get ahold of him. If he can’t get ahold of him within a week or two, he can call his counselor listed on the website.

If I remember right when my other son went through the process his ALO changed 3 times before he could get ahold of anyone…then he had to find one that was overseas. He chased the ALO for quite awhile, and that was not fun.

Well, son is finished with everything, including nom apps, dodmerb, sent transcripts and scores, got his teacher recs lined up…just waiting to fill out online app. He was able to leave for China with most everything in order. He’ll just call on July1st and see if his application went “Live”.

Thanks for all of your advice. Nothing left to do but wait. :)
