Already Bilingual, Should I Take More Than 2 yrs of Foreign Language

Hello everyone, I am a sophomore and I am currently taking French III. However, even though I am doing well in the class, I sort of despise the language. I am already bilingual (Gujarati) and I think it would be better for me, personally, if I replaced it with a class I like more like AP CSP.

My tentative schedule for next yr will probably be AP Calc BC, AP Phys 1, AP Eng Lang, APUSH, AP Seminar, and then I was thinking AP Econ or Psych for elective, and replacing FrenchIV with AP CSP ( I am already enrolled in CSA but I want to learn a more broad view of the effects of programming).

Would it effect admission at highly selective universities such as MIT, UPenn ( I have legacy), Yale, Columbia, or Georgetown if I only took two years (up to French IV, including French III) of French in high school?

First of all, you are in better shape than you think because French 3 means you will have completed 3 years of a foreign language after this year, not 2. Just look on the websites of your colleges of interest. If any of them recommend 4 years, you should take French 4. Your native languages will not count as foreign languages.

You have to “prove” you are bilingual…can you take a proficiency test for Gujarati?
Or like @soontobecolleger says, if you take French 4 next year that will be the equivalent of 4 years of french.

What major are you considering? If more in the humanities, i would stick with French.
If STEM, then consider if you need AP Seminar vs. CS
