alright, then. help me

when I posted all my chance threads the major concern everyone had was that I had a "laundry list" of ECs, and that I needed to show "commitment/focus."

this is basically what i listed, the clubs&leadership positions i will have this year/next year.
Senior Captain of Varsity Girl's Tennis - 10 11 12 (30 hours a week for about 3 months)
President of origami club - 10 11 12 (like 1 hour a week rounded up for year minus tennis season)
president of cancer awareness club - 11 12 (like 2 hours a week for a year minus tennis season)
president of this volunteering club - 11 12 (like 1 hour a week for a year minus tennis season)
president of future doctors club - 9 10 11 12 (like 1 hour a week for a year minus tennis season)
VP of animal protection club - 9 10 11 12 (like 2 hours a week for a year minus tennis season)
captain of math team - 9 10 11 12 (10 hours a week if you count self studying)
captain of science olympiad - 10 11 12 (like 10 hours a week for about 1/2 year >_<)
Columbia science honors program (3 hours a week for a year)
etc.

well I do have a focus--basically the ECs that I'm actually passionate about are tennis during tennis season (and that 30hour/week is pretty accurate), and the science&math ECs, which I spent 99.99% of my EC time on. (which hopefully i will be getting some awards for by the end of the year ^___^ must pass the AIME)

so I should show that, right? so should I just drop the stuff I'm don't exactly spend that much time one, so i wouldn't look bad? well not drop, but just not mention it on an Application? so to list, like, Columbia Science Honors Program cuz it's science, than liek a club?

haha whatever. thank you for reading

EDIT: oh and the names of the clubs aren't actually names of the clubs...i didn't want to put the real names cuz it's too obvious -_-

Your EC's kick
you have a lot related to science which shows passion
mention everything on your application

you were captain of math team in 9th grade?***.

no, i was part of the math team in 9th grade

oh...makes more sense.yea your ec's kick butt

^lol...haha. But ppl always criticize them when chancing

Your EC's are solid. Different people will comment differently because everyone has an opinion over what good EC's are. As long as you show interest in a subject that is consistent, your good to go.

Make sure your time estimates are accurate. While I don't doubt that it's possible to play 30 hours of tennis a week for 3 months, ask yourself if you really play 5 hours out of school 6 days a week.

Well if some of your time comes from during school (as in class period), it'd be much more reasonable in my opinion.

Hope I didn't offend you, I just says it how I sees it.

Listing all of your ECs is okay, but try to organize the presentation of your activities in a fashion that is more inviting to the reader.

your ec's are great, but I'd leave off at least one of the 1 hour/wk clubs you have participated in. It's just not necessary to list everything. In my app, I could've mentioned that I did jazz dance and chinese dance in 9th grade for 2 hours a week, but it really wasn't that important to me in the larger scope of things. If you have any activity that you feel this way about, then I'd just leave it out. It's cool that you have leadership positions in all of them, but they can get the fact that you have leadership skills and diverse hobbies just by seeing a couple of your EC's; they don't need to see all 9 of them (I think 6 or 7 is enough, personally).

Perhaps take out the less impresive things such as animal protection, origami, etc. unless those are very important, which I sort of doubt

^hmm lol. i see

is that unusual? cuz i do =P
and lol im not offended ^_^

Yes, I would guess that athletic estimate is accurate for tennis. It's such a short season, it has to have intensive practice sessions.

lol okay. great. thanks >.<
