This EC worries me

Okay, So i plan on applying to top schools but my ECs are all kinda generic. Most are clubs or volunteering (although i am president of all). Now, my favorite EC is Tennis. I play every day for hours, i am in a program during fall.. i am on the varsity team. The problem is, i devote most of my time to Tennis (which i love the most!) but i don't have any leadership positions in it. I am not captain of my highschool or the summer league team. Will this EC really be helpful? Cuz i hear ppl say "oh that's just generic stuff, focus on ECs that you are passionate about" .. i am passionate about tennis but i dont have leadership! I know it won't hurt me but will it help me?

You love tennis and play every day for hours - so I'd say you're pretty passionate. It's something that you love and spend a lot of time on, so yes, it would help you. Definitely include/talk about it.

Don't worry too much because you have leadership in all your other ECs (president).

Although you may not have had any leadership positions, you can express your affinity for tennis through your essays. =) Best of luck.

that's what i was thinking. I was thinking about writing about how i play with these old folks every morning at local park.

Im sure that admissions officers recognize the amount of effort that is invested in school sports (approximately 2hrs after school, every day) and will weigh it accordingly.
