hey guys my name is marina... im a high school senior living in staten island, ny (hour from the city). i applied to nyu cas, one of the places i really really wanna go to... i got the sunday in the square notice so the rest of this email is gonna be based on the assumption that i got in lol.

ok so. my parents told me that if i choose nyu theyre going to get me an apartment in the city, a few subway stops away from nyu at most. theyre doing this because they think that its financially more worth it and that it is a good investment, this way i get my freedom and they dont have to fork out a nonrefundable $11,000 per year on a stuffy dormroom.

so im already starting the process of looking for a roommate... a female roommate. someone going to nyu as a freshman next year, someone interesting and fun and happy and who wants to take advantage of the beautiful city's food, shows, nightlife, etc..... but someone that understands the importance of studying too :P im gonna be studying premed so ill need my quiet hours too but seriously i cant even wait for college to be the best years of my life.

this roommate is going to have to contribute to the price of the residence, but itll be a better deal than dorming at nyu BY A MILE, not to mention that we can negotiate.

so if someones interested, talk to me either on this thread or IM me ... AIM sn = summerzwow

hmmmm. would it be 100% impolite to discuss how much rent would be? or even the particulars of the apartment? from what I've heard, NYC "apartments" are a kitchen, bathroom, and living area. is that what you're going to get? (i don't mind living in something like that, just curious--you understand.)

about the price... i'd love to tell you that i know at this point but we don't have a place picked out yet so i need some time to answer that... as far as what the apartment is gonna look like... yea probably what you said lol. i promise ill look into it more and talk specifics once i know that theres people interested in doing this

i did see an apartment online, back when i was looking too, in the upper east side for $750 a month, two bedroom and it looked gorgeous. i emailed the guy about it, and he said its his but hes living in germany for a few years and is leasing it out. i didnt get it, cause my mom won't let me have an apartment :( anyway, its on apartments.com, and its the ONLY one listed in the upper east side for under $1000 dollars, so you should check if its still there
