<p>I don’t think so. It will probably show more passion for your intended major, if anything. I did the same, I only applied to 1 school (in cornell).</p>
<p>Actually, it is probably the opposite. Multiple people have told me that adding an alternative college decreases your chances of admission. This is likely because Cornell is big on “fit” and they want to see passionate students who know precisely what they want to study.</p>
<p>^ that’s what I said. Well it was a little vague; I aimed the “It will” towards “applying to only 1 college” in cornell.</p>

<p>Personally I put the same major for CALS and CAS and wrote drastically different essays.
I don’t think that’ll reduce my chances.</p>
