alternatives for TASP

nope! i’m applying to uchicago ea. if that doesn’t work out…well, first i’ll cry and then i’ll scream and then i’ll apply somewhere else, heh. i do like brown but i would absolutely turn it down for uchicago so there’s no sense in applying ed. and i am having way too much fun right now with uchicago’s essays to pay attention to anything else. i’ve pretty much exiled myself to my room since the beginning of june and have been writing non-stop for a month and a half now. hopefully, it pays off. (:

where are you looking at for college, happy?

^Not sure yet, but definitely not UChicago considering its limited financial aid.

hm. i thought uchicago was pretty good with financial aid. at least, i really hope it is. i’m going to need basically a full ride wherever i end up going…well, i suppose i’ll cross that bridge when i get to it. sigh

UChicago all the way! I’m actually looking forward to writing their essays. Such a change from all the other boring questions usually asked by colleges.
(Crap, is their financial aid really that bad?)

^I am not American so, yes, FA is really bad.

oh, okay. i’m sorry, happy. ): are you still planning on applying to swarthmore? they’re pretty good with fa for internationals, i think. and paralellular, i know!! uchicago’s essays are amaaazing. have you picked a prompt yet for your extended essay? i’m working on “find x” right now.

^Swarthmore is still on my radar. :)

Hmm I haven’t picked out a prompt yet because I keep getting these “great” ideas about different prompts, writing a few paragraphs, reading them the next day, and scrapping the entire thing. So when one actually sticks, that’ll be the one. haha

FYI on the Telluride houses at Michigan/Cornell–I used to think the same as wombatsoup, but I believe both houses have since changed their policies to allow non-TA applicants prior to freshman year. Not advertised, but check with the houses directly.

I’m applying EA to Chicago! I really appreciate that their prompts spark such great ideas and are not just, “tell us about an experience blah blah blah”
