Hello, this is my first post on this website , but I have a few questions, so I created an account.
So an alumnus contacted me to set up an optional interview with me a couple of weeks ago. I have it on Thursday, but I have never done one of these. I’ve heard they’re pretty laid back, but I have no idea what kinds of things the alumnus might ask.
Also,I’m wondering if it’s a bad thing that I have this interview. 10 people applied to Stanford from my school, most of which are great candidates for Stanford, but I’m the only one who has one of these alumni interviews. I can’t tell if it means I stand a better chance, or that Stanford feels they need more from me.
Thanks everyone!
@invisibleninja1 An interview is a great chance for you to learn more about Stanford and for them to learn more about you! Since you were asked for an interview, I would take every opportunity to improve my chances of getting in. Even though interviews don’t weigh in too much of the application process, you might as well take advantage of every opportunity
For those individuals who get “interviews” in the designated cities, states, or countries…should just approach it as “hit or miss” as to why they got one and their 10 other “smarter” friends “did not”…
…to Stanford admissions…it is not “evaluative” as it is for MIT…
…students get admitted regardless of having or not having an interview. So try to enjoy your interview and have a conversation…it will not not be an interrogation
Thank you, you two! A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
