I'm applying regular decision and my mother, father and aunt all graduated from Richmond. I was wondering, how much will these connections influence the decision at a school like Richmond?

I don’t work for admissions, but I don’t feel like it carries a whole lot of weight. Anecdotally, I know of one girl who had 27 family members graduate as Spiders, yet she was unable to get in. Not sure of what kind of metrics she had though.

lgg1993: Unless you have the credentials, with one minor low score or grade, Alumni Connections are not going to help. (Well, you may have more of a chance if your family has donated at least $10 million dollars or so) I have heard stories (directly told to me by senior administrators) of children of Trustees who did not get in their first go around… Instead, UR advises them to go to community college or a lesser academically rigorous school and re-apply as a transfer after a year or two, once they have proven their ability to handle college level courses.
