Alumni Interview

Hey, so I am an RD candidate who is about ~75th percentile for GPA and ACT as well as enough extra-curriculars to make me interesting and unique. The problem I am having right now is that I just had a pretty mediocre interview, probably a 4 out of 10. It’s not like I was stuttering or at a lack of words, but all my answers were very generic. And although the interviewer seemed engaged in the conversation, he was clearly not over-impressed with my answers. I’ve visited campus and demonstrated interest and such, but will this negative interview severely affect my chances? Thank you in advance.

My son was a very quiet high school student. I can not imagine he had a fantastic interview. The interviewers know they are interviewing young children who probably have never any experience with an interview. Because Lehigh is a small school they do take the time to evaluate each student. The gift of small talk is not the most important quality they are looking for!!! I think the admissions office will look past this. If you are worried send an email to your admissions officer. Maybe acknowledge you we disappointed in your interview. We became close friends with our admissions officer. We were so surprised at how much the admission officers care about their students - even after you have been admitted. Best of luck to you! Please don’t be so hard on yourself!!!

Thank you so much! Your response made me feel better!
