Alumni Interviews for ED Applicants?

I live in NYC and I got one.

I heard that getting an interview is pretty much guaranteed if you live in NYC, since there are so many alumni concentrated in that area.

In Beijing on the other hand… Not so much :P

Hello,

I’m a parent of two current CC students, a Junior and a Freshman – both love Columbia BTW. We live in Manhattan.

One kid applied ED, the other RD. Neither of them was contacted for an interview. At the time this caused each kid more than a little anxiety.

From our sample of two applicants, living in NYC is no guarantee of getting an interview, and, not having an interview is no deterrent from being admitted.

I live in NYC and haven’t gotten one…yet.

When do you think they stop contacting people? Like, if I haven’t gotten one now, is it too late? (I live in ME)

So is it bad if you still haven’t been contacted for one but know of others in your area that have?

I have the same questions as Nonsensical and hahvad. If I haven’t been contacted for an interview yet is it likely that I won’t have one? When’s the latest I can have an interview?

I just got contacted for one yesterday, so I imagine it’s not necessarily certain that you won’t get an interview if you haven’t been contacted yet. On the other hand, my prospective interviewer said that the deadline for her to file the report is November 20th, so if you’re not contacted quite soon chances are you won’t get one. I really don’t think you should be worried if you don’t get one though; I’m probably more nervous now that I’ve gotten one than I would be if I hadn’t.

I just got contacted for an interview literally 10 minutes ago!! I had give up hope :D

ok, so now I’m stressing. If you don’t get one is that a bad sign?

@hahvad It is not a bad sign at all. Not having an interview does not have any negative impact whatsoever on your application.

Yeah now I’m stressed out as well. I had really been looking forward to having a Columbia interview. The Nov 20th deadline for reports means I need to be contacted for one in the next few days or nothing!

Be happy you don’t have one. It means nothing.

Do you get contacted by phone or email? Because I received a missed call from a Restricted number a week ago. I really hope that wasn’t it. Did anybody just get an email?

HELP!!!

Can anyone confirm that the filing deadline is really Nov. 20? I haven’t been contacted for an interview either, and would love not to be.

Photographer, my interview explicitly told me that the filing deadline is Nov. 20th. Provided this is not for me individually (extremely unlikely) this is definitely the deadline. Consider yourself lucky to not get one, I’m so nervous.

Good4college, I only got contacted via email, and I get the sense that that’s the only way they do it. Besides, if the person that called had been your interviewer, they would have certainly left a message. You’re fine.

I read on one of their PDF, the deadline is Nov 20.

good4college, my son’s interviewer called twice. She didn’t leave a message the first time and called back immediately to leave one. Please don’t stress about it. My son is so nervous, I’m almost sorry he got an interview.

I’m verys tresses, because my SAT stats arent good, and I feel a really need to explain more things about me. Was it under a restricted number?

My high school is in Queens, NY
