Has anyone received a request for an interview? I'm just wondering, since it's almost the end of October, and I still haven't gotten mine, even though I submitted part 1 in early August.

I haven't, either, and I submitted it around when you did...

I think they just turned the online interview system (used by the alum interviewers) on this past week. So interviews probably will start to happen pretty soon.

thanks Columbia2002 for the input! i was a little worried since i got an interview notice from another school already, even though i submitted their stuff later. since you're an alum, will you be doing interviews too? or are only older alums able to interview prospective students?

Interviews for ED and some RD were assigned to our region this weekend. (there was a slight computer glitch in the system which delayed assignments for a few days) Students should hear soon from alums if spots are available - as usual ED students will be first with interview deadlines set for Nov 26th

For those interested in how candidates are assigned.

The admissions office waits for complete applications to arrive and then places student names on an alum e-board. For large metropolitan regions students are often assigned a specific alum interviewer by an alum chairman who knows his/her local alum interviewers. For smaller geographic regions where there is no chairman students may be selected directly by alumni. The number of alums are limited and therefore every student may not be interviewed. There is no pre-selection based upon specific criteria and the process is for the most part RANDOM. Some geographic areas interview 100% of their applicants, others may only get to 40-60% of their applicants depending upon the number of interviewers available and how many interviews they are willing to do. The number will vary from year to year.

The important thing to remember is that NOT having an interview secondary to the lack of available alumni does not impact your chances for consideration.

WiseOWL thanks so much for your information. I was wondering, does part 2 also need to be submitted before a name is placed on the e-board? I was under the impression that the name would be placed on the board as soon as just part 1 was submitted... mm i should hurry up to finish part 2 then.

Good question

I believe completion of Part I gets you into the interview database - should have been more specific in my post above

Do you know if there is are alum reps in the Tampa Bay area?

This is indeed correct.

There are alums everywhere around the world. The issue is whether there are lots of applicants and enough alums.

I wouldn't say "random" per se; I'd simply say it's got nothing to do with your merit as an applicant. I've been in regions where I directly selected applicants. I chose applicants whose interests and/or prospective majors resembled mine, figuring that it's better for the applicant and me to have something in common.
