If you’ve received one, is there any significance or can we infer anything from this? Does anyone know how many people receive this?
The email specifically stated that it has no bearing on the admissions process. It’s a neat scholarship to have, but don’t think too much into the email.
Just to reflect on what the above poster said.
“Your receipt of this scholarship invitation does not in any way reflect on your application for admission to UC Berkeley. You are no more or less likely to be admitted to UC Berkeley because you have received this invitation, and your decision to apply or not apply for Cal Alumni Association scholarships will not affect your application status.”
That is what is specifically said at the bottom of the email of the leadership award.
Apparently the top 10% of applicants as calculated purely by a combination of SAT & GPA scores are invited to apply for these scholarships. Admissions are holistic though so although its a great sign it is not a guarantee of admission.
From the posted stats of some of those invited to apply to the Alumni Leadeship Scholarship, it doesn’t appear to be sent to the top 10%. I’ve seen some pretty low stats posted so it seems unlikely that this is the case. Where did you get that information?
Oops my mistake, thats for the UCLA alumni scholarship invitations as per this thread:

not sure whether that is true of the berkeley ones as well or not
I have a 3.0 and a 1710 SAT and I got an alumni scholarship invite. I think it is random? Although I am a theater major if that changes anything?
