Your receipt of this scholarship invitation does not in any way reflect on your application for admission to UC Berkeley. You are no more or less likely to be admitted to UC Berkeley because you have received this invitation, and your decision to apply or not apply for Cal Alumni Association scholarships will not affect your application status.

I know that they have a disclaimer saying that it does not indicate admission but I was wondering if they just say that because they are not allowed to let applicants know before hand about their admissions decision. I know that i could very possibly get rejected despite getting this invitation to apply, but it just doesn’t make sense how an applicant could be asked to apply for scholarship for demonstrated leadership roles and still get rejected.

Does anyone know someone who got this invitation to apply and still got rejected or got accepted?

Admissions and Financial Aid are two different departments. Most students, with the stats, are asked to apply before FAFSA and Cal Grant deadlines because the FA departments are planning their budgets.

Until your admission comes through, don’t assume acceptance.

@“aunt bea” Yes, i am definitely not assuming acceptance, but could it possibly mean that they were somewhat impressed with my community service project or my numerous leadership roles and that i am possibly, just possibly, a good candidate for admission?

Also this scholarship has nothing to do with stats.

This^^^^^

They have to offer applications before their “money” deadlines (for all eligible students) and “admissions” decisions come out. Otherwise, financial letters are a mess at the end of March.

Pretty sure it means nothing; I got one too.

However, if you get invited for Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship interview, it’s guaranteed admission.
