Alumni Scholarship

I live in the south bay, but my interview was done at a frat on Cal Day. Every interview is different - it really depends on your interviewer, actually. For me, they only gave me a choice in the times, but it was all on the same day.

I posted this somewhere else, but the questions are pretty straightforward (tell me about yourself, what you did in high school, why Cal, etc.).

If you are out of town and the regional people are doing it only one time, I think you have the option to be interviewed by the alumni office, that is what happend to my kid, but I do not know if it has to be a "good" reason or not- I'll ask

rr43: from the source:
in applying you were told that you MUST be available for the interview times in april....there are normally multiple interview days (usually weekends as the Alum doing the interviews have work, etc), so its not normally a problem. Make sure that the phone number you put on your application is reliable so that someone will get the call while you're gone for spring break. In that event, you can call the alum back and tell them your situation. It may not even conflict, but in the event that it does, the alum are permitted to do phone interviews. Note that if you don't respond to the alum in a timely fashion, with a high concentration of students in the south bay, the Alums wont appreciate the extra burden, just make sure to communicate your situation as soon as you are contacted.

Sounds like you should make sure they have your cell phone and take it with you, even if you are roaming.

Has anyone from south bayarea got the call for interview? I am surprised that they haven't called yet. Kind of cutting it close to SIR deadline. Maybe somemom can ask her source and can shed some light.

my friend and I still haven't been contacted for an interview (we're both from san jose)
