Yes, he was rated 100% I think, or close to it. My mother no, I think because she got out a long time ago… Not sure if she retired or just got out lol.

That’s good news… if you review the application, they’ll ask why your father cannot sign the form; you’ll have to write a letter stating your circumstances in regards to you father. I would call them first to get clarification and for a peace of mind.

Even with this aid, don’t forget to fill out FAFSA for each year you’re still in school.

Do you think my explanation would be a valid reason for why I can’t get him to sign it? I’m hoping, but I’ll call tomorrow and ask them. Again, thanks for the info! I really appreciate all your help!

IMO, it doesn’t hurt to call as long as you can prove to them he’s your father.

Good luck!

@SFS Rules: So I got rejected, but because it was something that my school didn’t do correctly. They didn’t add my course in progress in my official transcripts, and CSUN isn’t taking my critical thinking classes that I completed last year because it’s “not in their curriculum”. Which doesn’t make sense to me at all. So in order for me to get re-evaluated at CSUN, I have to send CSUN my unofficial transcripts to verify that I’m actually taking the math class and I have to get AVC’s (Antelope Valley College) approval that the course will transfer and get a CSU GE certificate from them. It’s all too much, but I’ve sent them all out today, so hopefully I’ll find something out next month. They didn’t say anything about my GPA so I know that’s not the case at all. They also told me that if I would’ve said that I’m a Veteran Dependent, which I am, that they would’ve waived the Critical Thinking portion of the application for me. I sent them all my G.I. Bill paperwork and PSC orders from my previous base to prove that I’m indeed a Veteran Dependent.

I’m wondering could this be the case with all the colleges that I applied to? I’m going to call them all except SDSU becuase I know that they’re decision is final.

I’m not sure if all CSUs are like that, but if you have access to your CSU applications, I would look them over to see if there’s a “veteran dependent” option. If you don’t have copies of your applications, call the schools to let them know it may have been an oversight on your part since “you’re the first to ever attend college and have never gone through this process before”.

As for SDSU, they don’t allow appeals?

And if you don’t mind me asking… did your parents do military time at Edwards?

@SF Rules I looked earlier. All it asks is if I’m a veteran or not, nothing about being a dependent. I did fax proof of everything just in case.

SDSU allows appeals but its past the 30 day period for them. No, my father retired but never actually got here. My mom only does civilian work in Edwards.

So now I’m wondering… Since I’ll be getting my CSU General Education Certificate, will it be easier to transfer to the other schools? Or will they still give me a hard time? I’m going to call CSUSM and Fresno State to see if I can straighten everything out tomorrow.
