am i accepted?

i got this email from cornell engineering today..this is wut it says..

Greetings from Ithaca! The admissions committee has been impressed by your numerous awards and academic accomplishments. We have not only been impressed by your hard work as a student, but also excited by the person you have become. We see the impact you have made in your communities and your fellow students. We couldn't be more honored that you are considering Cornell as your future academic experience and community.

Cornell University is an amazing institution that can challenge your mind and build your spirit. We would love for you to visit and learn about us first hand. Shortly in the mail you should receive an invitation to an exciting program, Diversity Hosting Weekend.

The Diversity Hosting Weekend (DHW), April 10-12, 2008, is an opportunity for you to experience Cornell University as a student. You will visit classes, meet the faculty, get to know our community-- and of course, try the food! As our guest you will spend the night with a current student and Cornell will cover meals and travel expenses.

I havent gotten any letter of acceptance yet. Does this mean i am accepted??

I got the same e-mail today and I also received my acceptance letter today. So keep your eyes peeled, I say

Congratulations to you both ! Did you both apply for the college of engineering?

To answer your question, yes, I think you absolutely got accepted.

Yes, I applied to engineering... however, it did not SPECIFICALLY say engineering. But they sent me an e-mail about engineering... I'm just confused @_@

That's bazaar that they don't say it outright!

wow..id be frustrated cause its not as definite as a likely letter usually is.

I think I got a likely letter in the mail today...

"I am writing to let you know how much the Cornell Engineering Admissions Committee enjoyed reading your application. Your academic and personal achievements are outstanding and, although the Ivy League schools won't notify students of their admission decisions until the end of the month, it may help with your planning to know that you are very likely to be admitted to Cornell.
During the next few weeks and months, you will narrow your list of possible college choices to the one school you think is best for you. I hope this advance notice of our high regard for your application will encourage you to learn more about the College of Engineering and Cornell."

And then some stuff about visiting the campus. The phrase "you are very likely to be admitted to Cornell" is in boldface, too.

At the end, they finish with "... and I look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to the campus as a future Cornellian."

So I don't think it's a guarantee since they give themselves the opportunity to still reject me, but I'm pretty happy!

these are likely letters - they are telling you now so you can make plans for the weekends you are being invited for...Cornell is complying with the Ivy league admission date..

may I suggest if you are interested in attending the Cornell days weekend you go ahead and make your reservations now...

best to you both
