We're delighted that you have given thoughtful consideration to your higher education goals and that you have chosen to apply to Cornell University. We thoroughly enjoyed reading your application, and we were very impressed by your personal attributes and your many accomplishments.

Because we think you would make an outstanding contribution to the Cornell community, we would like to extend a special early invitation to you to visit Cornell University during our Engineering Diversity Hosting Weekend, April 15-17, 2010. We are especially pleased to let you know that the Engineering College will cover all expenses (travel, accommodations, and meals) for the duration of the program...."

I just got this email, and i'm not sure what exactly it means.

hey i got the same thing and im not sure how to interpret it either, for now, im just gonna be content that i was even invited to go lol. but if it really is some subliminal form of a likely letter, then that has just made my night lol

That is a likely letter so congratulations! You were accepted to Cornell!

For engineers who are minorities (women, black, hispanic, etc) they invite them to Engineering Diversity Hosting Weekend. I went, and it was definitely one of the reasons I eventually decided to come here.

I got to see the wonderful opportunities and the kind of community that exists.

Now I act as a host for DHW every semester :D

There are actually two events sponsored by the Diversity Programs in Engineering for likely admits.

One of which is hosted by Society of Women Engineers, and is called Prospective Candidate’s Weekend. This is aimed towards non-minority women.
The other, Diversity Hosting Weekend, is aimed towards minority men and women.

Have any caucasian women gotten the e-mail? My daughter applied to engineering and is a white female from Virginia…she has not received anything.
