Hi everyone!
I just got an email from Cornell University School of Engineering Admissions Office telling me that I’m very likely to be admitted! Overall, the email was rather vague but it said it is not official because Ivy League schools do not send notifications until the end of March. However, they invited me to sign up for their Admitted Students Day taking place one month from now.
So what, if anything, does this mean? Has anyone else received this email? I’m sort of paranoid that this is a scam of some sort…
Thanks in advance for any responses!
Received the same-- its a likely letter!
That’s awesome! I just hope this isn’t giving us false hope!
I got one as well!
Yup same!
is this just for engineers?
Possibly, like I said, the email was from the school of engineering
I got that email too! I really hope it means something good.
Same! Im cautiously optimistic because it would sort of make Cornell look bad if they didn’t accept us after inviting us to register for the admitted students day and all that stuff
Cornell and other top schools send likely letters to a small number of applicants who fit various criteria. A likely letter means you will be admitted unless something drastic happens. (By something drastic, I mean like the admissions office discovering that you lied on your entire application and are actually just a highly intelligent ferret). Congratulations on getting into Cornell.
Ahhh this is so exciting then!!! Thank you for this information
Girls in engineering= underrepresented minority= YOU ARE PROBABLY IN!!!Woot!
That’s exactly what my mother said!!! Hahahaha
I got one but it jsut straight up said that I’ll be admitted not that I’ll be likely to or anything about Ivies not announcing early
Yeah same, although mine was from the diversity people not the engineering people. Kinda scared it might be fake. Is it just me or are there a lot of people getting them than normally?
I was worried that it was fake too. You should try calling the admissions office, they were very specific and helpful in their information
I got something similar: an invitation to Cornell Diversity Hosting that explicitly stated that I will be accepted and my admissions packet has been sent.
@pinkgurl96 - I called Cornell Engineering Admissions to verify my likely letter, and they weren’t very specific. I think I got a hold of a student intern though?
I didn’t actually call, my dad did but anyway, the lady did verify that the email is genuine. She also asked for my name, said that they really liked my application but cannot disclose more than what was said in the letter. Essentially, they would like people to sign up for some overnight programs and make travel plans for next month. Though she couldn’t say anything explicitly, her tone indicated that it’s a yes
@pinkgurl96 So if I got a letter, and was successfully able to register for the Spring Women’s Engineering event, should I assume that the letter wasn’t mistakenly sent to me? This whole thing still feels a bit surreal to me.
