You have a great grade trend, but Institutions like UMichigan can get hung up on a single year’s UW GPA.

Your uptrend is very good and is likely to help you. I think that it is worth sending in applications as long as you can afford to attend these schools without a merit scholarship.

However, you definitely also need to apply to safeties. You also should pay attention to cost unless you can afford to be full pay without taking on loans.

My intended major is business
My safety schools are Ohio state Cincinnati Loyola and Ohio U. I am also applying to Wisconsin and Purdue as a more reasonable target in addition to the earlier schools mentioned.
I forgot to mention that I am a URM from an immigrant household.
My terrible freshman year was covered in my LOR from my Gc the first semester of freshman year I had a 2.4 the second semester I had a 3.7 and it averaged out to about a 3.0 for that year.
I think my high test scores and upward curve with harder classes should help also being a URM should help.
I also centered my ECs on two main interests Finance and social activism in addition to creating a tech oriented business my sophomore year I created an organization that would help teach inner city kids with a lack of resources Financial Literacy. I also participated in a college professor’s research for a year I also created a group focused on helping URM rights in addition to the youth naacp president.
I did well in my standardized tests with a 1550 sat and a 36 Act
Now, I think my ec’s are good and my test scores make me competitive in the 75 percentile but my biggest flaw is my gpa but I think my LOR and my upward trend soften the blow.
I worked as hard as possible to come back from that pathetic freshman year but is it enough for Notre dame Ross Northwestern USC and Vanderbilt?’
Earlier on I considered wharton but I realize that the chances for me getting in there are near 0

I think you might get into Wharton, as an AA with those stats, especially if you are an AA male. Your steep upward trend, your high test scores, your ECs, all of this is great. I would not sell yourself short. If you can afford the application fees, I would go ahead and put in an application anywhere you might want to go. Sure, your overall GPA is a bit low, but if you take out that freshman year, or even just that first semester of freshman year, you are in the ballpark WITHOUT being an URM. And you are an URM, which will give you a significant boost, especially if you’re a male URM.

Wow, Thank you! I really focused on making my ECs centered around my passion which is business and social activism which is in line with my major. I am indeed a AA URM male. I agree that I should apply and see how it ends up considering that I have one major flaw that my upward trajectory softens as well as it all stemming from the first semester of freshman year. I thought my ECs and SAT and ACT being in the 75th percentille for would overcompensate for my weak point in GPA for Northwestern and Vanderbilt but would they not consider my application at wharton simply because of my GPA

Vanderbilt and Northwestern do not have undergraduate business.
