Am I completely delusional or do I actually have a chance?

So.... I'm starting to think that I was hallucinating or something when I was thinking about applying to all these super hard schools..... Only among the UCs do I have any safties at all.... and even then its only like UCSB and UCSD. Please give me a reality check. Do I actually have any chance at these schools? Am I aiming too high? Do I have enough Safeties/Matches so that I will actually go to SOME school? Thanks for taking a look

Schools I'm (planning on) applying to (in order from relative ease to difficulty):
UC Davis (don't know if i'm going to apply), UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, Tufts, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Rice

(and this is where the delusional part comes in)

Georgetown, U Chicago, Columbia, MIT, Princeton, Yale (top choice... haha), Harvard

I'm very interested in politics and current events and am very politically active (not really shown on my extraccurics but wrote a solid essay on it), and I plan on majoring in International Relations (if offered at the school, if not, PoliSci with IR concentration).

Anyways thanks for looking! And please don't be afraid to be blunt. :)

I agree, you are very delusional. U must be delusional to think a 2300 SAT is not good enough for the Ivy League. That’s well into the 99th percentile. And to be completely honest (which you said I should be), your complaining about a near perfect SAT and 4.0 avg is working my nerves. There’s a fine line between humility and ungratefulness, a line that you and many people on this CC site are too fond of crossing.

^^ what a tool. I understand that you really want to attend Yale and don’t let people like him make you feel bad about yourself. You should have a great chance especially with your summer program there. Good luck!

I’m really sorry I didn’t mean to come across as that… this freak out mode is mainly because everyone at my school is freaking out about college (even like people who are top 10 in the class) and that made me freak out… I think now would be a good time to take a deep breath, relax… (not possible in this 100 degree heat!! gah)

and Thanks for the honesty

At least this is better than that person a few weeks ago who went with
“Is it even worth applying to Ivies?
I’m valedictorian with
*insert excellent scores
*insert excellent ECs
*insert excellent awards”

But anyways, you obviously have no chance whatsoever. You should just give up and apply to your local community college.

JK. Just messing with you. Fair to say, you have as decent a chance as any into Yale and Harvard and Princeton. I think MIT is questionable, since you don’t show much inclination to the maths or sciences, but Columbia and University of Chicago aren’t too bad. Maybe low reach/high match. Anyways, to be frank, you either need more self-confidence or stop ■■■■■■■■ (the latter is me being presumptuous). Then again, coming from me, self-confidence is a whole other definition…

With your rank, coming from a school with lots of ivy applicants, HYPMC will be very tough.

The Bay Area sends an amazing number of very qualified applicants to these schools. They are top ranked, 2350 plus Intel winners and the like. To be selected from this pool you need to be a true stand out.

I can see Chicago and Gtown.

You’re not delusional, but you’re in one of the handful of most competitive pools applying to these schools. From SF to Cupertino to Fremont to San Jose, there are thousands of qualified Asian candidates all wanting these same schools and each school will take a handful.

This is a ■■■■■. Anyone with these grades would know where they stand.

Now that I have calmed down from my anxiety, and I reread this I am very sorry if I came across as a ■■■■■. I had a breakdown when I created this thread, and I sincerely apologize if I offended anyone, please just ignore this thread.

Ignore Nosike. He’s the one whose posted two dozen “chance me” threads with the hope he’ll be worshiped as the second coming. The only ■■■■■ I smell is him.

vvs9992003- My comment wasn’t meant to make you feel bad about yourself. I too had a little emotional when I typed it, just because there are so many chance threads that a are identical this. I understand that you are stressed about colleges, but you have to understand that you have done all you could have, and just relax (not slack off though) a little. If it wasn’t clear, I think your chances are good for all of those colleges
