Am I dreaming?

GPA: 3.65 UW (W/o fresman grades )
ACT:27
SAT:1200
Class Rank: about top 9%-15%
EC's: A couple of leadership positions, a handfull of awards, I'm in NHS and SHNS and a bunch of other crap.
Recs: I will have one from a teacher who loves me, and my consuelor rec should be even better.
Essays: Should be very, very unique.

Communtiy Servie: 300+ hours
HUGE upward trend.<------- I hoping this can make me stand out.

What are my chances at:
UVA (Ed and in-state)
NYU
Boston U
Miami
Northeastern(EA)
Dickinson

Can someone give me some % chances for getting into these?

Increase your SAT a bit and you won't be dreaming for UVa. In fact, you'll probably be a lock.

you can go to uva b/c you have a great chance.

Thanks, any more opinions? I have been told my GPA is a notch below UVa's standards though...

nyu is a reach, uva you still have somewhat of a shot, the rest you should get into.

Since you ask for % chances.. that's what I shall give.

If you are taking a tough courseload, the 3.65 UW GPA won't seem so bad.

If your raise your SAT score up a little bit, you will have a good shot at all the schools on your list.

Currently I'd assess the following...
UVA:55% (Since you are in-state)
NYU:35%
BU:70%
Miami:60%
Northeastern:80%
Dickinson:75%

Good luck, :)

Thanks for all your opinions. And as far as my courseload, I'm doing full IB.

How can an essay be "very" unique?
It's impossible for anything to be "very unique"

My counselor read it and told me, and she has been doing what she does for like 15 years or something. I take what she said seriously, and she's not one to blow smoke up my adoubles.

"VERY unique" makes no sense in the english language.

Sorry mr english teacher I didn't know this paper was being graded.

"Very" unique reply there.

Tell me why it dosen't make sense.

You can't gauge uniqueness. It's a state, that's all. It means one-of-a-kind.

Does it make sense to say that something is "very one-of-a-kind"?
No, so how can it make sense to say that something is "very unique"? Same idea.

"You can't gauge uniqueness. It's a state, that's all. It means one-of-a-kind."

You are very stupid.

kafka this is a college-advising forum, not a grammar forum, don't worry about little things that make your head spin, just take it easy and calm down like a good junior would in this situation. I get what you are saying but it was absoutely futile for you to even bring up the point and further push it..

Yeah, what xindianx said.

uva might be more of a stretch than you think, they have this lovely thing with instate students called quotas and they will only take a certain number of people from your high school....so if you are like 1 of 15 and those 15 are higher than you, you're out. it's how i didn't get in...i got into nyu out of state because no one else from my area applied....so it all depends on your region and how many people too.

Thanks for all the honest opinions. What about my chances at other schools besides UVa though? Like Northeastern EA?

Northeastern continues to raise its standards every year so it hard to say. The competition for EA is also very high. This year, the school received 6500 EA apps out of a total of 26,000 apps (new record for the school). But who knows what the pool will look like next year. My guess is that it will be even more competitive. But I am just speculating.
