My dad is a california resident and thinks that since i'm not 18 yet, that it will make me eligible for in state tuition (i dont live in california). Is this somewhat true in anyway?

here is a good place to start checking on this -- University of California - Admissions

I did some googling and found conflicting answers -- several sources said that as long as one of your parents was a resident of CA, you were considered a resident. Another said that if you live with the parent who is a resident of CA, you are a resident.

Probably NOT. Your last sentence says it...you don't LIVE in CA. YOU are not a CA resident currently. Your custodial parent does NOT live in CA.

Agreed, however, that the info is a bit conflicting, but I still would venture that the answer is no.

This seems like something you should call the school about....but i dont think you're a resident

just move in with your dad, and then you'll be eligible.
