Am I eligible to Columbia GS ?

Hi,

I am a French student and I plan to apply to Columbia School of General Studies (Fall 2013), regarding my educational path. I am still pretty young (19 years old), that's why I would like to know if my age (and accordingly my light life/work experience) would be an disavantage for this college.
First, a question: Could you confirm to me that Columbia's GS deadline for Fall 2013 is on 1st April 2013 ?

* SAT I: I get 760 M, and hope around 700 CR and 600 W.
* SAT II: hoping 700-800 range in maths I, maths II, maybe in chemistry and French (is that really necessary ? :D)
* Unweighted high school GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0 between 9th grade and 12th grade.
* Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): My high school didn't rank, but probably in top 1%.

 • Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):

I do sailing since 2004 in differents clubs in France - small multihuled ships, less than 35 ft - every holidays and a lot of weekends, so more than 100 hours a year (I do it alone and with a team, so I have somtimes leadership place).

I devlopped 4 years ago with 2 friends a website, now closed. This website presents different artistic inovations around the world, we organised events in order to promote our website. We get a 6 months advertising contract with a national airline.

I do tutoring for 4 years with children between 10 and 14.

I am volunteer in a nursing home for 3 years. I visit every weeks 2 or 3 different old people and chat with them, do activities...

I organised a lot of events with my high school, privately and through public...

Job/Work Experience:

I get a 2 months summer job in building construction firm in Paris suburban area, France.
*1 month summer job in an air conditioning engineering consulting firm in Paris suburban area, France
*2 weeks internship in an IT consulting company in London, UK.
*2 months 1/2 summer job in a company (maritime and defense industry) in Boston, USA. Furthermore they proposed to me to come back in order to work for them next summer.

Why non-traditional student ?

I took a "major" (French system) in science during my high school (10th-12th grade). I've been graduated in june 2011 from my high school with a very poor French baccalaureate (like a B- in the US). After that, I decided to integrate a very selective formation in France named "classe preparatoire". The courses are in an high school (mine is very famous in the center of Paris) but very advanced (equivalent to AP in the US) in order to integrate top french business schools like HEC (Number 1 in finance in Europe following the Financial Times ranking), ESSEC... The major was in economy but with a very strong basis of math (11 hours a week). This is a non seeking degree training, with no transcripts. At the end of the year, I took back French baccalaureat and I've been graduated A SECOND TIME in Economics and humanities with an A.
I dropped out this school and, for the year 2012-2013, I am helping involved in a professional project: I am the assistant of a young entrepreneur who is building his own company (room renting through the web). At the end of the summer 2013, I want to go back to school and get a degree in business and finance. That's why I believe Columbia GS could give me this opportunity !

Thanks, so it is on April 1st. Other suggestions ?

I have a little trouble following your life story. GS requires at least a year break in education completely. It looks like maybe you’ll be eligible after next spring. I would email or call the GS admissions folks and talk to them about eligibility before you complete the application. I could see it going either way. Good luck!
