For the UC app, if I put down my intended major as Econ for Berkeley (and UCLA for that matter) then am I forced to go into it? Or am I allowed to change around like many other universities? Only asking this because I know UCs have limited space in some majors.
Econ is in the College of Letters and Sciences so they do not admit by major. If you change your mind, then you could declare another major within the same college. For majors outside the College of L&S, there will be additional courses and GPA requirements.
For UCB:
Note that L&S admits students as Undeclared; admission to capped majors (e.g. CS, economics, psychology, ORMS, statistics, art practice, and a few others) is by college GPA in prerequisite courses (and portfolio for art practice) after attending for a few semesters.
UCLA:
For the College of Letters and Science, the applicant’s major is not considered during the review process.
@Gumbymom Sounds good, thanks so much.
