Seriously it seems like everyone on here got either 700s or 800. am i really that stupid? or are some of you who got lower scroes to ashamed to post?

690 history lol i dont care ill just retake and do better :)

A score of around 600 is at or below average for most subjects; towards the 700 end is above the average. It's still a solid score.

How do you figure 600 is below average...maybe on CC, but 500 is average give or take 20 pts on most tests

660 Spanish -- good enough so that I am exempt next year!!!

500 is the average score for SATs

630 lit right here hahah :(

You're not alone.

650 Math II and 610 French here. :(

I got a 740USH though.

crying

BTW my math score was 40%ile and my French was 45%ile.

I got 650 math ii, 660 lit, and 770 US H. Definetly retakes for the first two.

660 Ush 640 Math IIc.. sigh

500 isn't the mean score for the subject tests. The reasoning test has means close to 500, but the means for the subject tests range widely:

Literature: 589
US History: 599
World History: 590
Math IC: 586
Math IIC: 670
Bio E: 595
Bio M: 627
Chemistry: 628
Physics: 652
Chinese with Listening: 758
French with Listening: 629
German with Listening: 631
Japanese with Listening: 687
Korean with Listening: 752
Spanish with Listening: 635
French: 620
German: 613
Modern Hebrew: 619
Italian: 663
Latin: 618
Spanish: 636

So, on a majority of the Subject Tests, a 600 would be below average.

Hey shopaholic,

You're definitely not alone. These CCers make 700s and 800s seem expected, which is great for them, but for someone who isn't aiming for HYPS or all of those almost-ivies, getting below a 750 isn't the end of the world.

The most important thing you gotta remember is that, for the most part, the kids taking the subject tests are generally much brighter and more studious than the average person. So, not scoring in the 90%+ like you're used to is normal. That being said, here are a list of the average scores from collegeboard:

So if you're aiming for the ivies or almost ivies, you should generally retake if you aren't getting a 750+. For other good schools that aren't as selective, I'd say retake for anything in the low 600's and 500's. High 600s should work if the rest of your application is solid.

One last thing- I don't know how accurate this is, but the kaplan bio book I have says that a 600 is considered a solid score lol

630 W. History last year....I want to break 700 on the U.S. History on Saturday, but I'm not going to be too upset if I don't. I would definitely be upset with a sub-600 score. It's one of my best subjects.

Haha I think I'm the only one in the 500's who has posted on here so far. But I know 2 other kids at my school who got in the 500's for languages.

Me:

540 - French (!!!)
630 - Literature
670 - Math IC

The math is OK, the literature and French are bad bad bad. Will have to retake...

It sucks because I do well on the SAT I (2070, shooting for 2150); my ACT was 29. These are way better scores than 540,630,670...

530 Math I... yeah, pretty bad I know, but I knew it would be going in.
640 Bio M (was told after the fact I would have been better off going E due to the focus of my course)
660- USH, no excuse there, I just didn't do as well as I could have

Hoping my APs are better though, they should be..

Chinese with Listening: 758
Korean with Listening: 752

Remember, the natives kill the curves.

i'll be getting around 600's for literature. :(

@ReninDetroit: That's the difference between the SAT and the SAT Subject Tests; you have to study in order to do well on them.

That's exactly why I loathe the SAT.

I've gotten 660 Bio M and 730 US History.

Not planning to go to an Ivy, but the 660 still bugs me.
