Am I likely to be accepted to Emory University?

I’m pretty sure it’s unlikely but I want a more qualified opinion.

SAT: 710 evidence based reading & writing
540 math
=1250 overall (yes I know my math sucks, this was my first try without any classes or assistance in studying. I’m retaking it and have placed an emphasis on practicing math)

I have two recommendations, one from my Literature teacher and the other from my AP U.S. History teacher.

I take 4 AP/Honors classes (Chemistry, History, Java Programming, and English). I also take Horror Literature, Latin, Algebra II, and Theology III.

For ECs I am a part of the Model UN Secretariat (next year I’ll be President but am currently Treasurer), National Junior Classical League, and Latin Club.

Accomplishments: I co-organized a Peacekeeping Awareness week where MUN raised money to donate to the UN Peacekeepers. I’ve won a Distinguished award on my MUN Position Paper as Sweden. I’ve been published in my school’s academic journal. I won the Magna Cum Laude award on the Latin National Exam.

More personal accomplishments that I was told would be beneficial to my app: self published a novella when I was 12, I have composed several musical pieces and can play 4 instruments, I have had a play I wrote performed at my school, and I have volunteered for 2 years at a convent, and, currently, at an animal shelter and elementary school library.
Thank you for reading

It might be tough for someone to give you guidance since you don’t list your weighted and unweighted GPAs or how many AP classes you have taken. You know you will have to bring that math SAT up as well. There are so many students applying to Emory in the 1350 to 1450 SAT range, with over 4.0 weighted GPAs, who have taken and done well in several AP classes with good ECs. The tough thing for the school is differentiating that group.

If you were fortunate to get accepted and the first two years were at oxford campus would you do it?

@brookejeannette How would we know? Note that Emory is more GPA sensitive and also likes strong GPAs from difficult (meaning that lower than expected unweighted GPAs correspond to higher than expected class rank) school, Math, getting it in the 6s at least is a strong recommendation.

@brookejeannette

Your biggest weakness is your math SAT score. Try to raise it by at least 100 points. I assume you’re a high school sophomore and have time to do so.

Your biggest strength is your musical ability, which I would highlight with an arts supplement submission. Think about putting together an arts/music related portfolio to submit in addition to the rest of your application.
