so I have a 3.3 or 3.4 unweighted gpa, weighted 3.5 but I do have grades lower than C 3 to be exact but I have taken 8 classes a year not 6 so I was a bit overwhelmed all in my sophomore year my freshman and junior year were good junior year was actually amazing and my senior year is full of unfortunatly hard classes. so I want to ask am I even eligible to apply to uc santa cruz because of my 3 bad grades sophomore year?

What is your UC GPA? Have you completed the A-G requirements? If so, and if UC GPA is better than three, and you are in state, then you are eligible to apply. UCSC freshman admission profile is like this;

http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/files/freshman-profiles/freshman_profile_santa_cruz.pdf

@shrinkrap You don’t understand im asking am I ELIGIBAL to even apply if I have grades below a C

IF you have met the A-G requirements, and IF you have a UC GPA better than 3.0. You may have retaken a class that you got a grade below a C in, or satisfied the requirement some other way. It looks like others have helped with the A-G question in previous threads. There were complicated questions about the language and arts requirements, and I can’t do any better than they did.

These are the paths to eligibility

Have you calculated your UC GPA?

@Shrinkrap 3.51 gpa im just ask in can I even apply to the school if I have below a c in a class ive taken dont worry about the a-g their satisfied I just want to know can I apply to uc santa cruz without an immediate rejection

The only person who can accurately answer the question for you is someone who works in the UCSC undergraduate office. Below is the link. Scroll down to “If you have not yet applied.” Everyone has told you the same information essentially. Now its time for you to actually do the work for yourself.

BTW the word is “eligible” not eligibal. I honestly think you know the answer the question you posted. The UC website is quite clear when it states no grade lower than a C in any A-G course. You received a D in Spanish 2 meaning you did not satisfy the requirements. Retake the class or find a different school to apply to. The only other option is taking the Spanish subject test which you have no interest in doing.

"Qualifying for UC Admission

The UC admissions guidelines are designed to ensure students are well-prepared to succeed at the University of California. If you are interested in entering the university as a freshman, you need to satisfy the following minimum requirements:

Complete a minimum of 15 college-preparatory courses (“a-g” courses), with at least 11 finished prior to the beginning of your senior year.

The 15 courses are:

a. History/social science

2 years

b. English

4 years

c. Mathematics

3 years

d. Laboratory science

2 years

e. Language other than English

2 years

f. Visual and performing arts

1 year

g. College-preparatory elective*
*chosen from the subjects listed above or another course approved by the university

1 year

If you attend an accredited high school in California, you can check the courses at your school that may satisfy the “a–g” pattern by consulting ucop.edu/doorways. The web site also has general information for applicants who do not attend an accredited California high school.

Earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or better (3.40 or better for a non-resident of California) in these courses with no grade lower than a C.
Meet the examination requirement by taking the ACT Plus Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test no later than December of the senior year. The University does not require SAT Subject Tests, but certain programs on some UC campuses recommend them, and you can use SAT Subject Tests to satisfy the “a-g” requirements listed above."

The way I read it is, if the D’s are NOT in A-G’s, or if you satisfied your A-G’s some other way, it might not be a problem. So if your D’s are in Sanskrit, but you have passed two years of Spanish with a C or better, your application should be accepted.
