Is it likely I'll get into UC Santa Cruz?

I'm a junior in high school and plan on applying as a freshman applicant in the fall.
GPA 9-12: 3.3077
GPA 10-12: 3.1250
Total: 3.3333

I have mostly A's and B's, but sophomore year I had straight B's and one C. I didn't do so great sophomore year but have greatly improved this year. I'm getting my SAT scores tomorrow (EEEEKKK) but got 1700 on practice tests.

I am in AP classes and have a job but no other ec. /:

ECs are a little slim for UCSC; maybe a CSU should be used as a backup to UCSC.

UCSC: Reach

Aim for the CSU’s, UCSC is out if question without EC’s, GPA or outstanding SAT. You need some EC’s if you want to get accepted. And a 3.3~ GPA will not put you in the top 9% if your graduating year.

Btw, if the GPA you posted is (unweighted) then you may have a chance.

It is unweighted, I don’t understand the difference between weighted and unweighted?

I got a 1790 on the SAT. I’m probably gonna retake it.

The difference between weighted and unweighted is the weight of your class. If you are an AP class it is worth more points and thus creates and separate gpa.

<a href=“A-G Policy Resource Guide”>A-G Policy Resource Guide;

Type in the name of your high school and it will list all the AP/Honors classes that UC will give you an extra point.

For example, get B in APUSH gives you 4 points (3 for the B + 1 extra for the AP)

But at least UCSC is reachable…

That’s great then, if you’re taking AP classes then you should have at least a 3.6~? And a 1790 SAT is competent for UCSC.

Your stats are on par for UCSC, you just need some extra curricular activities. Join some clubs, do charity work, just beef up your application a little. You don’t need an extraordinary hook for UCSC, just to look like a competent, involved student.
