Am I on the right track? (Confused Junior)

Female.
Public High School.
School sends some grads to top schools.
Want to major in Chemistry
Will apply for financial aid.

Academics:
4.3ish weighted. Don’t know my unweighted
Class rank: 1/186

Freshman year classes: Geometry H, English H, World Civ H, Gym/Public Speaking, Integrated Science H, Intermediate Algebra H, Band, Spanish II
Sophomore year classes: Algebra II H, English H, AP US Part I, Gym/Health, Bio H, Chem, Band, Spanish III
Junior year classes: Advanced Algebra H, Pre-calc H, English H, AP US Part II, Computer Science 1, AP Chem, Band, Spanish IV
Senior year (planned): AP Calc AB, AP English Lit, AP Bio, Physics H, Band, Gym, Oceanography/Meteorology, A VHS social studies class
-I've gotten an A in every class so far except for three or four A-'s. Our school doesn't have honors classes for foreign language or chem. Currently I have a B+ for the year in Adv. Algebra but I think I can bring it up to an A- by the end of the year.

Scores
Sophomore PSAT: 191
Junior PSAT: 212 (Commended, most definitely)

Extracurriculars:
-dance class (about 3-4 hrs/week): 15 years (jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical)
-flute lessons (30 min/week): 7 years
-part-time job at local pharmacy (10-15 hrs/week during school year, 20-30 hrs/week during summer from the summer before junior year until December of junior year)
-Pep Band (about 2-6 hrs/week, fall and winter only): Grades 10-12
-Tech crew for theater (30-40 hrs/week, 2 weeks/year): Grades 10-12
-National Honor Society: Grades 10-12: will hold officer position next year. This year I’m the chair of a committee.
-Cultural Enrichment Club: Grades 9-12

Awards and Honors:
-Not really sure where to put this but I got a perfect score on the math section of our state graduation exit exam.
-Commended student PSAT

Volunteer Work:
-10-15 hrs/quarter of stuff for NHS
-lector at church: 4 years (About an hour or two once a month)
-various other stuff at church on a semi-regular basis. Usually helping out with the little kid's religious ed classes or sorting boxes. I have about 50 hours from freshman and sophomore years.

Current College List:
1. MIT
2. Brown
3. Tufts
4. Fordham
5. Boston University
6. RPI
7. RIT
8. WPI

Is this list well balanced? Any other suggestions? I want to be near a big city and preferably in or around New England.

Add more ECs - particularily awards and leadership positions. Maybe even try to enter national science competitions.

Unless you do an outstanding job on your SATs -we're talking 2250 plus with close to 800 on the math portion - MIT is a big reach. Brown less so, but if you score around where your PSATs indicate - 2120 - Brown will certainly be a reach as well. Tufts is definitely in your range, though, call it a match or maybe a high match, and the rest of your list looks to be low matches and safeties.

You may want to consider Carnegie Mellon, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Penn State -University Park, and the University of Maryland - College Park. If financial aid is an important consideration, you might want to take a look at schools like the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Florida. These schools are trying boost their academic standing, have good honors programs, and may very well be willing to give a kid with your stats a substantial scholarship as an inducement to attend.

I'd also look at Boston College and Colgate--and maybe Middlebury (although this last school doesn't offer much financial aid).

Care to explain this statement?

i think she has a great chance for MIT. MIT has always been looking for females since most of the applicants are males. Her e.c. seems amazing with variety of activites from different catagories. I know for sure that BU is a definite, i think you should put BU as a safety. of course idk your sat stuff but based on your psat i'm sure you'll break 2200. i live in NJ and if you're going for pharmacy/chemistry, you should also check out Rutgers pharmacy program. It's one of the top pharmacy programs, plus cheap cuz you can declare state residency by your sophmore year.

Colgate and BC are good schools, but BC is EXTREMELY hard to get into. (last year it had more applicants than Harvard. ~16,000 i heard)

Definitely competitive at any of the schools you listed (as you stand). Bringing the SATs above 2200 would certainly help though (MITs average SAT score is 2200 according to Sparknotes, so no matter what anyone says, you can obviously get into MIT with SAT < 2200).

SparkNotes: Test Prep: New SAT

thanks for the chances guys. I'm taking the SAT this Saturday and my personal goal is to get a 2200+ and get a 750+ on the math section.
