Am I on the Right Track for Pre-Med and Beyond?

I agree with wegman...for the majority.

SHS_Spartan, no need to tell me that you agree with every post that attacks me or accuses me of something. Thank you, but I already know and, frankly, don't care. If you're just going to post that you, for some reseon, don't like me, don't waste your time and my time in this thread. Do yourself a favor, and move on!

I don't like you, Olive_Tree... I'm not going to lie. Like you said, this is a public forum, and I'm making sure the public knows that I don't like you. I'm sure you'll reply with a nonchalant attitude, but that doesn't change my opinion. You are certainly allowed to post anywhere you want, but that doesn't mean that people are going to be receptive.

I totally agree with you, wegman22. You have a right to, for whatever trivial reason, not like me. However, fortunately for me, I have a right to, frankly, not care. I do have to say, it's pretty pitiful that you choose to not like someone who you don't even know, and it's even more pitiful to waste time on a public forum (where nobody cares) making sure that people know you dislike me. But hey, whatever floats your boat. Keep choosing to, for whatever reason, not like me; I bask in it.

Obviously, I believe all I'm going to keep getting are unhelpful and unrational comments and personal attacks, so I think this thread should be put to rest. Thanks to the few who did provide helpful comments!

You sure surprised me by replying with a nonchalant attitude. I definitely didn't see that one coming... It's amazing that you don't care what someone on an online forum thinks of you. Such willpower!

Don't worry...the reason is not trivial. It's quite obvious.

I dont know if anyone else agrees that this may be a little too early and a little to vague to truly project what may happen another 2-6 years down the line.

If you are posting so people will tell you that you've done wonderfully, from your stats it sounds like you have, but I wonder what a truly rigorous academic environment might do to an individual like yourself.

Wait for your test scores if you really want any feedback, they are the only true yardstick for comparison across the board.

oh and olive tree 'unrationally' is not a word . . . i am skeptical of your ability to attack standardized tests with the type of voracity that you attempt to portray

I honestly do not know what gives some people the idea that I'm fishing for compliments. That was, honestly, never my intention. I didn't know that asking for advice or constructive criticism (bombarding me with comments like I'm an "arrogant, insecure, and self-centered person" is not constructive criticism) meant that I am looking for compliments telling me how "amazing" or "wonderful" I am. That was never my objective. So, I apologize if I came off that way.

lilshamz, what will a "truly rigorous academic environment" do to a person like myself?

Thank you, lilshamz (I'm not even going to get into how many many spelling errors there are with that), I now know you're my unofficial spell checker if I ever need one again. And don't worry, I'll attack standardized tests just fine! I didn't know using one word incorrectly meant bombing the SATs. Wow, some people have to sink so low trying to attack another person with anything they can get their hands on.

There goes your ego again....you still don't get it.

Well, I'm sorry if my ego bothers you so much, SHS_Spartan. Don't visit this thread or any other thread involving me then, if it affects you so much. Like I said before, move on.

I hardly think SHS_Spartan is "affected" by you - quite the contrary!

^^^ Agreed.

"Quincy 4, I know that the medical college is reputable, but I don't want to be in a BA/MD program, I really want to be Pre-Med before moving on to med school, and I would not want my undergraduate experience to be in Michigan but, rather, somewhere different. Not to mention, my parents don't want me staying in Michigan, either."

Fair points, Olive_Tree and there's no way anyone can dictate personal desires and preferences, like the school’s location, except for you and your parents... I just was commenting on making a snap-judgment on MSU based on a stereotypical view... Even aside from Medical Scholars, there are several of demanding, well-respected premed majors there... One, the Lyman Briggs residential college is as intimate yet demanding as anyplace, including the Ivies... and that's but one...

Quincy4, I meant no disrespect towards MSU. I know that there are many demanding and top programs offered there. The decision is mostly based on me wanting to experience someplace and something different, since MSU is the only university I've experienced in years.

haha, i love this thread....

olive_tree, if you want some constructive stuff...yer academics are fine, but just like check out hospitals, shadow doctors, do research, that sorta stuff. Extracurriculars and just explore avenues in the field. not only will that help in admissions, but you'll get a better sense of what to expect later on.

Thanks, PipingHotTofu! I'll definitely volunteer at a hospital next summer, and I'm going to be assisting this summer with research. I just haven't had much luck finding a mentor to begin a research project.
