Am I on the right track for UNC?

Hi,
I’m a freshman and dream of one day attending UNC. So far I have a 3.94 un-weighted GPA, and 4.35 weighted GPA (plan on getting it up). I have 25 hours of community service and am currently in Marching Band, Concert Band, FBLA, Theater Tech, and am Historian of DECA. I’m also taking the most rigorous courses available to me. I am a citizen of NC; So if I continue on this path, do you think I will be competitive?

You’ll be fine as long as you stay an in state resident

U have a 50% chance, unc looks at unweighted gpa more. Try to make it 3.7 or higher. Also unc requires at least 6 APs taken throughout high school. It’ll be hard to maintain a high gpa once in APs so study hard. I too want to go to unc, I’m a junior in state.

I’m instate, not in state. I don’t like nc state

Keep your grades up (3.94 un-weighted looks good, and will need get up over 4.5 weighted to be competitive). 78% of the incoming class were in the top 10% in their H.S. class and 43% were in the top 10 students.

Your EC’s are looking solid. Be involved in clubs, not just a member. Take leadership roles when possible.

6 APs are not required by UNC but that is pretty normal (my D had 5). The rigor of your academic schedule is definitely considered. AP classes will bump up your weighted GPA, of course, and can earn valuable credit hours if you perform well on the exams.

For the incoming class, the 25th percentile score on SAT was 1,780 and the 75th percentile was 2,110 and the average score was around 1,940. ACT range was 28-32 with an average of 29.9.

When you get to the point of applying, your essays, experiences and recommendations will be critical because Carolina looks at more than just stats. For well qualified NC residents, the acceptance rate is approximately 50% and I think you are heading in the right direction.

Best of luck to you and keep up the good work.
